MX-5 Miata NA 1.6 to Honda CBR1000 Independent Throttle Body Intake
This intake is configured to use Honda CBR1000 independent throttle bodies on 1989-1993 Mazda Miata BP engines. This intake allows you to use Honda CBR1000 motorcycle ITBs. This flange will work with 2005–2016 cable-driven throttle bodies and 2017+ drive-by-wire throttle bodies. Throttle bodies are not included with this intake but readily available used.
This intake configuration is not a direct fit into a stock Miata. It is intended for advanced users with strong DIY capability. Some items on the passenger side of the engine bay may need to be moved. Due to the positioning of the throttle bodies, stiffer than stock engine mounts are required to prevent the throttle body from hitting the hood. Custom intake piping will be required for use.
This intake is fully O-Ring sealed including the head flange and throttle body interface. You don't need any additional gaskets to install on your engine.
This manifold accepts all parts from our current and future intake manifold sandbox of parts. This means that it can be reconfigured with a different head flange (such as the Mazda Miata 1.8), runners tuned for different peak power, different plenum style and volume, and accept the independent throttle body adapter.
This intake is proudly designed, machined, and assembled in the USA in our small North Carolina shop using primarily US-sourced materials. We welcome customization discussions.
The wiring, throttle cable interface, and tuning is the responsibility of the user. To use a drive-by-wire throttle body, you need a standalone ECU. For drive-by-wire throttle bodies, the ECU will need to be able to support drive-by-wire and the car will need proper wiring provisions installed. For cable-driven throttle bodies, you'll need to adapt your existing cable to the throttle bodies. Consult your ECU manufacturer and engine tuner for compatibility and installation.
This intake is NOT for road use. It is NOT intended, designed, or certified to be used on any road vehicle.
